Just a few minutes (350m) north is the famous Ponte
Rialto (Rialto Bridge) and associated markets. The Rialto itself
is perhaps the most romantic bridge in the world and dominates the
most celebrated stretch of the Grand Canal and, conveniently, the
perfect starting point to take water transport to and from any other
point on the canal – including Marco Polo International Airport
and Santa Lucia Railway Station.
The short trip across the Rialto Bridge brings us
into the area of San Polo and the church of Santa Maria dei Frari.
This area is lively with the day-to-day life of the Venetians and
is surrounded by many shops, bars and restaurants.
